A Town Has Issued Its Own Currency
Tenino, Washington, a town of less than 2,000 people, set aside $10,000 for residents hurt by the pandemic but wanted to ensure the money was spent locally. So, the town printed its own money on thin sheets of wood – valid only in the town. (CNN.com)

A Social Robot Reduces Stress and Relieves Pain
Healthy adults spent an hour with a furry robotic baby seal that reacts to touch with realistic sounds and movements. Subjects’ moods improved as a result of the robot’s behavior, and they were less affected by pain stimuli previously identified as ‘strong’ while touching it. Social robots could be an alternative for human contact during times of isolation. (Shelly Levy-Tzedek, PhD, Head of the Cognitive, Ageing and Rehabilitation, Ben-Gurion University)

Happiness Lies in Change
When 20,000 people were allowed a coin toss to determine whether to make a change in their lives (leaving a job, ending a relationship, etc.), those who were instructed by the coin to quit the status quo were happier six months later. If you’re on the fence about a choice, opting for change may be wiser than maintaining the status quo. (Steven Levitt, PhD, Professor of economics, University of Chicago)

Reducing Inflammation
Mind over matter can reduce inflammation: Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) is commonly used to treat anxiety and depression by changing how we think about ourselves and the world. However, it also shows promise for reducing inflammation, which has been linked to heart disease, cancer and other deadly diseases. Benefits lasted six months after treatment. The tapestry of our country has been weakening. It’s up to us to stitch together a new garment, one that’s woven with kindness, humanity, and that cloaks us all with the same warmth and embrace of acceptance.

During these changing times, we will continue offering online training. The dates will be the same, although the times will differ. At a later date we will be giving a weekend workshop to make up for the missed hands-on training time. You will receive a $150 discount for this upcoming training.

Inspirational 'Happy' Hour

It was so nice seeing those of you who joined us for our Zoom Inspirational ‘Happy’ Hour. As the presenter, I spoke about the importance of connecting with your body’s energy system and how to ground yourself during stressful times. It was a great success filled with lots of insight of healing energy.

The Three Thumps is a morning ritual I shared with the attendees. It’s one of several techniques that I discussed to help ground oneself during stressful times.

Three Thumps:

  • Tap under your eyes (on your cheek bone), approximately 7 times. This helps keep you grounded.
  • Tap on your upper chest (under your collar bone) with flat palms.  Make sure you cross your arms over one another as you tap approximately 7 times. This helps to increase your vitality and keep your body’s energy system balanced.
  • The third thump is on your upper chest, over your sternum.  With a flat hand or fist thump that area between 20-30 times. By doing so you will be stimulating your thymus gland which is just below your sternum.  This helps to strengthen your immune system.

This, and so much more, will be taught at our upcoming training in Energy Psychology beginning October 17th.

We have held our get-togethers (in-house) five times a year over the last 12 years and want to continue offering them to you. However, for the time being, we need to reach out to you virtually so we can continue to stay connected. Our next Inspirational "Happy" Hour will be in November or early December. We’ll keep you posted.
