Did You Know?

Airline Entertainment Screens Have Cameras:

These screens are pointed at passengers. Multiple airlines have admitted that the screens they use for their entertainment systems come preinstalled with cameras that are pointed at the travelers—although they say that the cameras are disabled or never were active. The camera looks like a cell phone camera and typically is below the screen. However, nearly any device can potentially be hacked. To be sure your privacy is protected paste something opaque, such as a bandage strip, over it.  (BottomLine May 2019)

Cherry Juice Helps You Sleep Better:  Recent findings: People who drank two ounces of tart cherry juice concentrate (or ate one ounce of tart dried cherries) a day slept an average of 39 minutes longer and spent less time awake in bed than those who drank a non-cherry fruit drink. Reason: Cherry juice significantly increases levels of the sleep-regulating hormone melatonin in the body. Try drinking cherry juice concentrate 30 to 60 minutes before bedtime. (Northumbria University, UK, Published in European Journal of Nutrition.)

To Relieve Summer’s Aches and Pains:  Use whole milk to cook sunburn pain. The lactic acid in milk reduces inflammation. Dip a washcloth into a bowl of cool milk then gently place it on the burned area for about 20 minutes. Rinse off with cool water. Use apple cider vinegar for insect bites and athletes foot. Dab vinegar onto each bite with a paper towel. It will relieve the itching and reduce swelling. Soak infected feet for 20 minutes in a mixture of three parts water and one part vinegar to kill the athlete’s foot fungi. This can be done twice daily.

Brush It Out:  Brushing your skin when it’s dry—once before a morning shower and once again before bed—stimulates blood and lymph flow to generate warmth. Use a long-handled brush with natural, soft bristles and gently stroke away from your heart.

Testimonials

"The training was truly inspiring. It was a positive journey of learning and walking through fears and doubts. I also liked that guest instructors were brought in to share with the class their techniques. There was a strong balance between practical application and class discussion. The training was a valuable adjunct to what I do professionally and a gift in my own personal life as well. Thank you MIOH."  ~R.J. Smith, Licensed Acupuncturist

Letter from the Executive Director

Hi Everyone,

Hugs and laughter are the perfect cure for whatever ails you…

As a certified laugh leader I help others reap the benefits of laughter and hugs when it comes to enhancing one’s well-being.

Laughter is universal. It integrates with all treatments and strengthens the immune system. It releases tension, anxiety, and fears and helps improve the quality of a person’s life. It helps boost self-confidence and self-esteem. It enhances social skills and general happiness as it reduces stress and negative emotions…

Laughter can make you feel better, so why not laugh a little more?

With hugs, there are no batteries to wear out. They require low energy consumption and return a high energy yield. Hugs are inflation proof, non-taxable, non-polluting and, of course, fully returnable.

Hugging is healthy. It relieves tension, combats depression, reduces stress, and improves blood circulation. Hugging is invigorating and rejuvenating. It also elevates self-esteem and generates goodwill. It has no unpleasant side effects and is nothing less than a miracle drug!

Laughter and hugging are good for everyone; regardless of age or fitness level…They are also free. Let’s all share the joy of laughter and hugs.

To Your Success,

Marla Brucker, DCH, R.H.
