Did You Know?
Save on Plane Tickets: Incognito or private browsing mode can help keep your browsing history private by telling your browser not to let sites track or remember your visits. Some travelers believe travel sites track repeat visits and raise prices to create urgency, though this isn’t guaranteed. To search incognito in Google Chrome, open the menu and choose "File," then "New Incognito Window." In the updated version, open the menu and select "New Incognito Window." For a potentially better deals, try shopping in the afternoon, when prices may be lower than in the morning.
Preventing Falls - Chew Gum: Chewing xylitol-sweetened gum after eating can reduce your risk of falling. Japanese research found that it removes bacteria along the gum line before they can reach the brain and disrupt your balance. Make sure to savor the flavor. Focusing on a simple experience for as little as five seconds each time can help reconnect your mind and body, potentially making a fall less likely. Bonus: chewing gum after eating can also help reduce inflammation.
Are You Dehydrated? Surprisingly, what feels like hunger is often dehydration. Most people begin to feel thirsty when they’re about 2% dehydrated. Research shows dehydration can affect physical and mental performance at levels as low as 1%, before you feel thirsty. So, keep drinking throughout the day, even when you’re not thirsty. Choose water or decaffeinated beverages. Your body will thank you.
Handwriting Yields Best Learning and Memory: Research suggests that adults' and children's brains are much more active when writing by hand than when typing, especially during writing-intensive exams. Putting pen to paper engages the senses, helps connect different parts of the brain, and may make the brain more receptive to learning and remembering. The same benefits may apply when you write down your goals and affirmations. (Study from the Norwegian University of Science and Technology.)
Inspirational Quotes
Don’t walk 30 miles in my shoes; that would be boring. Spend 30 seconds in my head; that will freak you out.
"Happiness is a choice. Happiness is a habit. And happiness is something you have to work hard at. It doesn’t just happen." ~ Leslie Jordan (actor, 1955- 2022)
"Do not let the behavior of others destroy your inner peace." ~ Dalai Lama
"Real generosity means doing something nice for someone who will never find out." ~ Frank A. Clark
Testimonials
"I’d considered MIOH’s certification program for years before finally taking the leap and starting my first module. Though classmates and instructors welcomed me warmly, fear and doubt made me question whether I could finish. I persevered, and each new skill turned my panic into curiosity and excitement. Practicing on one another felt like magic. Taking control of long-held limiting beliefs was empowering, and my confidence grew with every module."
"Completing the clinical internship gave me a supportive environment to practice the skills and tools I learned. Feedback from fellow interns and Marla Brucker helped me trust my intuition and develop my style as a hypnotherapist. I once thought claims that the certification program was life-changing were exaggerated, but I experienced it firsthand. MIOH has built a supportive community of instructors, graduates, and students. I’m grateful to be part of it and look forward to learning more with MIOH." ~ Rosa J.

Hi Everyone,
"Do your little bit of good, as those little bits of good together overpower the world."
~ Arch Bishop Desmond Tutu
I’ve always ended this section of the Newsletter with "Let Kindness be Contagious…," but now I’m starting with it.
Can you recall a time when someone was kind to you? Now, think of a time when you extended a simple act of kindness. Reflect on their response, how it made you feel, and how it left a lasting impression on both you and the recipient. That’s the gift of giving.
It’s easy to look outside ourselves for the key to happiness. In today’s fast-paced world, we can sometimes let selfies, self-interest, and fleeting connections take priority over kindness and compassion.
The Butterfly Effect suggests that a small event in one part of the world can have a significant impact elsewhere. By showing simple acts of compassion in your daily life, you may start to notice their ripple effects. Make someone smile today.
"My religion is very simple…My religion is kindness." ~ Dalai Lama
