Boost Focus By Sipping Water: Keep a glass of water nearby and take five sips every 20 minutes. This simple trick makes it easier to focus on what you’re working on or reading. Water moistens your tongue and makes your mouth more comfortable, which triggers the release of focus-enhancing dopamine. Bonus: University of Illinois scientists say that increasing your water intake by at least a cup a day can cut 205 calories from your daily diet. (Research study: University of East London.)
Drinking Tea Boosts Brain Health: The brain regions of people 60 and older who had been drinking tea at least four times a week for 25 years were more efficiently interconnected than those of people who did not drink tea. The type of tea didn’t matter – the effect was observed with green, oolong, and black tea. This suggests that long-term tea drinking may help protect against age-related declines in cognitive function. (Research study at the National University of Singaporeon Aging.)
Natural Remedy to Boost Your Energy: Feeling tired? Snack on an orange or kiwifruit for a quick energy boost. Arizona State University scientists say foods rich in vitamin C activate enzymes that repair damaged muscle cells, cutting healing time in half and boosting your energy by 33 percent.
Dial Back Your Stress: Learn to manage your stress once it’s triggered by mastering a calming technique. Sit in a relaxed space, create an anchor, such as touching the tips of your thumb and first finger together, take a deep breath, and give yourself the suggestion, "When I do the anchor, I will quickly feel this wonderful sense of relaxation throughout my body."
