Did You Know?
Eat Fruit – Be Happy! Recent findings show that people who ate fruit most often scored highest for mental well-being and had the lowest scores for depression. In contrast, those who frequently consumed savory snacks like chips—low in nutrients—were more likely to report lower mental well-being and common mental lapses, such as forgetting why they entered a room or misplacing objects. Interestingly, the benefit was linked to how often fruit was eaten, not how much, and the effect was unique to fruit rather than vegetables. That’s likely because vegetables are usually cooked, which diminishes their mood-boosting nutrients, whereas fruit is typically eaten raw.
Mosquitoes Like Red Mosquitoes find humans partly by detecting the carbon dioxide we exhale, but recent research shows they’re also influenced by the colors we wear. One common mosquito species is particularly attracted to red, orange, black, and teal, while showing little interest in green, purple, blue, and white. Changing your clothing color might help reduce bites, though human skin—regardless of pigmentation—naturally emits a red-orange signal that mosquitoes can detect.
Tame Tiredness by Sniffing Rosemary
Just a few sniffs of rosemary can significantly increase alertness by 37% and reduce drowsiness by 32%. Researchers attribute this to the plant’s unique aromatic compounds, which stimulate the release of beta brain waves—those associated with focus and mental energy.
Send Joy Soaring with a Bedside Plant
Adding a succulent like a jade plant, silver dollar, snake plant, or holiday cactus to your nightstand can boost your mood by 20%. These plants enrich the air with oxygen while you sleep, which supports brain function. Scientists also say that seeing greenery each morning strengthens your sense of connection to nature, lifting your spirits in as little as two days.
Inspirational Quotes

Testimonials
“Since completing this training, numerous opportunities have opened up for me, both professionally and personally. I originally thought I’d just take one 60-hour training through the Motivational Institute of Hypnotherapy, but I soon realized I was on an incredible path of change, and I needed to continue. The training was thorough and professional. I acquired both the tools and self-confidence necessary to succeed in my career and personal life. The teachers are exceptional, and they possess a diverse range of expertise. Marla herself is amazing; she is a great teacher and has been a wonderful mentor to me.” ~ K. Shappard

Letter from the Executive Director

Hi Everyone,
What we value in life determines the course we set for ourselves.
Several years ago, while doing my typical fast-paced walk with a friend, we passed a lush garden with a sign on the front lawn that read, “Stop and smell the roses.” I commented on the flowers as we kept walking. Suddenly, we heard an elderly gentleman shout out, “STOP and smell the roses.” And that’s exactly what we did. We realized how beautiful the flowers were; their gentle soft fragrance filled our spirits. I was so grateful to him for reminding me to stop and appreciate life’s gifts.

No matter what our challenges are, there are so many lessons and gifts being offered to us daily. We just have to open our eyes and our hearts to receive.
Remember to stop and smell the roses!!!
