Improve Your Memory: Rosemary oil contains several compounds shown in studies to facilitate the activity of the chemical messenger in the brain that involves memory. In a British study, people over 65 were divided among three rooms. One room was scented by placing four drops of rosemary essential oil in an aroma diffuser that ran for five minutes before participants entered. One was lavender-scented, and one was unscented. The participants were presented with a series of challenges designed to assess prospective memory. The rosemary aroma improved the participant's memory by over 20%. You can also boil rosemary for the same effect. Afterward, you can use the rosemary water as a hair rinse or facial spray.
Swap Your Coffee For Green Tea: Green tea is the superfood that keeps being super. It's packed with catechin antioxidants, unique compounds that research suggests may help kill bacteria and inhibit virus growth. A study conducted in healthy adults aimed to determine whether camellia sinensis, a component in green tea, reduced the incidence of colds and flu. The results from the study indicated that among subjects taking the key tea component, there were 32.1 percent fewer cold symptoms, 22.9 percent fewer confirmed illnesses, and 35.6 percent fewer symptomatic days compared with subjects in the placebo group.
Foods That Help You Get Better Sleep Tart cherry juice contains the sleep hormone melatonin. Kiwifruit has serotonin, which can help promote sleep. Whole-grain crackers have carbs that can help sleep by raising serotonin levels. Fatty fish contains vitamin D and omega-3 fatty acids, crucial for serotonin regulation. Hummus is made from chickpeas, which are high in sleep-promoting tryptophan. Also helpful for sleep: Increased fiber intake. Avoid excess fat at dinnertime and consume less saturated fats. Eating meals at regular times is especially important for breakfast.
Blueberries Can Improve Brain Function:
Recent findings: People diagnosed with mild cognitive impairment (MCI), after 16 weeks of consuming the equivalent of one cup of blueberries a day, had better mental performance than people given a placebo. Studies have shown that blueberries' antioxidants protect against heart disease, cancer, and other diseases. (Research at University of Cincinnati Academic Health Center.)
