Did You Know?
Plants That Humans Like But Bugs Don’t: Marigolds repel mosquitoes, squash bugs, and tomato worms. They contain a natural compound used in many insect repellents. Lavender is attractive to bees but not to other insects. Lemongrass also repels mosquitoes, as it contains citronella, which is used in many repellents. Basil and Rosemary drive away flies, mosquitoes, and cabbage moths. Petunias have a licorice-like scent that repels aphids, tomato hornworms, and squash bugs, although some pests, such
as slugs and caterpillars, like it. Mint keeps ants and mice away.
Fruits and Vegetables With the Most Pesticides: According to the US Department of Agriculture, conventionally grown strawberries have more pesticide residue than other fruits or vegetables. Second on the list is spinach, which averages twice as much pesticide residue by weight as any other crop, followed by broccoli, nectarines, apples, peaches, pears, cherries, grapes, celery, tomatoes, sweet bell peppers, and potatoes. Produce least likely to contain pesticide residue: sweet corn,
avocados, pineapples, cabbage, onions, papayas, asparagus, mangoes, eggplant, honeydew melon, and kiwis. (Shopper’s Guide to Pesticides in Produce. EWG.org)
Healthier Way to Start Your Day: Add fresh lemon juice to a morning glass of water or green tea. This provides the body with hydrating electrolytes in the form of potassium, calcium, and magnesium because we get dehydrated overnight. Lemon juice also may help your liver purge more toxins. It increases your intake of vitamin
C, strengthening your immune system (Frank Lipman, MD, Founder and director of the Be Well Company.)
Boost Your Memory by Shutting Your Eyes: Researchers asked participants questions about a short film they had been shown. Participants who shut their eyes while being asked the questions gave 23% more correct answers than those who kept their eyes open. Theory: Closing your eyes blocks out distractions and reduces your brain’s cognition load, which helps you remember more. (Published in Legal and Criminological Psychology)
Inspirational Quotes
Our souls know where home is, even when our brain doesn’t. Home is sometimes a place, but it can also be people. Throughout life, there will be people and places that we always seem to return to, that we’re drawn to…that’s home.
A bird sitting on a tree is not afraid of the branch breaking because its trust is not in the branch but in its own wings. Always believe in yourself.
"Feeling gratitude and not expressing it is like wrapping a present and not giving it." ~ William Arthur Ward
Opportunities are everywhere. It’s up to you to find (or create) them and make things happen.
Testimonials
I want to say thank you again so much for this amazing hypnotherapy journey. I can't imagine a better guide than you, Marla! I truly appreciate the way you are able to hold space. Your approach is soft, nurturing, and playful, and yet you also project a standard of respect and accountability – toward ourselves, toward you as our guide, our classmates, and the other teachers. The training created an energy of reverence that encouraged me to honor myself, honor my classmates, and honor the deep work we were showing up (vulnerably) to do together. I have made some powerful shifts, knowing it's only the beginning. I sincerely appreciate you and MIOH! Thank you!! ~ R. Vincent

Hi Everyone,
With Mother’s Day just 12 days away, it’s important to remember your mom. If you can, call her and tell her you love her. You are the only person who knows the rhythmic hum of her heart from the inside. If she’s no longer here, know she’s still there within your heart…so send her your love and gratitude because you wouldn't be you if it weren’t for her.
"A woman's beauty is not in the clothes she wears, the figure she carries, or the way she combs her hair. It must be seen in her eyes because that is the doorway to her heart, the place where love resides. True beauty in a woman is reflected in her soul. It's the caring that she lovingly gives, the passion that she shows, as the beauty of a woman with passing years only grows" ~ Audrey Hepburn.
Mothers hold their children’s hands for a short while, but their hearts forever. ♥
To all you moms: Happy Mother’s Day!

Become a Menopause Specialist
Imagine being at the forefront of a global opportunity that affects every woman.
As a Certified Hypnosis or Alternative Health Menopause Specialist, you have the unique opportunity to fill a significant void in this area and provide the much-needed support women are seeking.
Learn natural and alternative techniques and applications to support women through this transitional time. My colleague Diane Edwards and I have worked in this field for years. Realizing the need for more specialists, we have developed a certification program and a hands-on self-help book to assist women in transitioning through this stage of their lives naturally.
Even if you are postmenopausal or have not entered it, you can still assist women in this untapped market. Remember, everyone knows someone going through this transitional stage in their life.
If you are interested and want to hear more, we are offering a one-hour free introduction to our program. Choose the best date and time for you: Wednesday, June 12th at 5:00 PST or Saturday, June 15th at 9:00 a.m. PST.
