Did You Know?

Break the Worry Loop:
Tap your temples. When worries have your mind in a stress loop, try this: Turn on a cheerful song, rest your elbows on a table, and gently tap your temples to the beat for two minutes. Australian scientists found this unique type of tapping (known as EFT or emotional freedom technique) reconnects the mind and body, calming the brain and lowering levels of the stress hormone cortisol by as much as 37 percent. Meanwhile, Canadian research suggests that listening to a song you love while you tap works just as well as anti-anxiety drugs at lowering stress.

Techniques to Beat Winter Brain Fog:
Cold weather brain fog is natural, but there are things you can do to prevent it. You might expect that crisp weather sharpens thinking, but temperature dips and less daylight can cause levels of focus-regulating brain chemicals to drop, leading to changes in cognitive abilities. While brain fog can be frustrating, fortunately, there are some easy, scientifically-proven steps you can take to stop those confused feelings. Brain fog doesn’t necessarily have to keep you from enjoying the cooler weather and all the fun activities that come with the season.

Trouble Focusing? Sniff Lavender:
If you’re listening to a favorite podcast or trying to read a new page-turner and can’t focus and concentrate, try taking a slow whiff of lavender essential oil. Lavender sharpens alertness and concentration. A happy bonus: Focusing on smelling pleasant scents daily optimizes brain function and could help people with dementia.

Put Your Mind on Rewind:
If you’re like many of us who have performed a routine task, no matter how much you rack your brain, sometimes you can’t recall whether you’ve already done it. To erase that mental block, imagine walking backward. British research suggests the trick works the brain back in time to when the memory was first filed away. Hence, the memory is easier to retrieve, instantly improving short-term recall in a phenomenon called the "mnemonic time-travel effect." You can apply this technique to other things as well.

Inspirational Quotes

"We like to think of our champions and idols as superheroes who were born different from us. We don’t like to think of them as relatively ordinary people who made themselves extraordinary."  ~ Carol Dweck

Your thoughts, when combined with your feelings, create your world. Whatever you think about and have strong feelings about will manifest in your life experience…Be careful what you wish for.

Don’t give your power away, as others won’t use it right…Take the power yourself to create your dreams.

"Unless you try to do something beyond what you have already mastered, you will never grow." ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson

Testimonials

My experience at the Motivational Institute of Hypnotherapy can only be described as life-changing. Taking the training redirected my life in a very positive way. Learning about the conscious and subconscious mind and how they can be used to find and release problems and blockages of our past and energy system is amazing to behold, and learning and using those tools to help people is an incredible gift.

So many things opened for me on so many levels, mentally, spiritually, and emotionally. I made wonderful and cherished friends there, whom I’ve learned from and continue to learn from. Marla Brucker is a very talented and experienced teacher. Her energy is very positive and nurturing. She is a true master in the field. If you take this training, be like a sponge and absorb all the goodness. It will change your life for the better in so many ways. In doing this work, you learn how to heal yourself first, and then you can use the tools to assist others.

Enjoy the experience! ~ Janine P.

Letter from the Executive Director

Hi Everyone,

If you believed in yourself…who would you be now?

This story is about the art of changing one’s perspective.

A little boy was overheard talking to himself as he walked through his backyard, baseball cap in place, toting a ball and bat. "I'm the greatest baseball player in the world." He said proudly. Then, he tossed the ball in the air, swung, and missed.

Undaunted, he picked the ball up, threw it into the air, and repeated, "I’m the greatest baseball player in the world." He swung at the ball and missed again.

He paused a moment and examined the bat and ball carefully. Then, once again, he threw the ball into the air and said, "I'm the greatest baseball player who ever lived." He swung the bat hard, but again, he missed.

Without hesitation, he said, "Wow, I’m the greatest pitcher ever!"

"Some people succeed because they are destined to; most succeed because they are determined to." ~ Anatole France

Let 2024 be an amazing year as you create great success in reaching your goals and living a life you love. Thank You for being part of MIOH’s community…
