Retain a New Skill

After learning a motor skill, such as a tennis swing or playing a song, exercise vigorously for at least 15 minutes right away and get plenty of sleep that night.  The combo primes the brain for remembering. (Research study at McGill University Montreal, Canada.)

Easier Way to Report Unwanted Text Messages

Forward the text message to SPAM (7726). This gives it to a consortium of carriers that will use the information to try to block future spamming. (Federal Trade Commission.)

Depression Can Be Linked to Low Levels of Folate (Folic Acid)

People with low levels of folic acid have a 55% higher risk of depression. Self Defense: Individuals who have a personal or family history of depression should have their blood tested for folate. If levels are low, eat folate-rich foods—breakfast cereals, leafy green veggies, lentils, dried beans, and wheat germ--or supplement with a daily multivitamin (Mark Stengler, ND, La Jolla Whole Health Clinic.)

Halt Osteoporosis with Sweet Potatoes:
Osteoporosis can make your bones so brittle that they break easily. It causes hip fractures and other serious conditions. Sweet potatoes are rich in a nutrient shown to help reduce osteoporosis. In a clinical study, people who ate the most of this nutrient had 37% lower risk of hip fractures compared with those who ate the least amount.

Inspirational Quotes

"We need leaders not in love with money, but in love with justice; not in love with publicity, but in love with humanity....The ultimate measure of a man is not where he stands in moments of comfort and convenience, but where he stands at times of challenge and controversy."  ~Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr – 1956

"I choose to make the rest of my life the best of my life." ~Louise Hay

Testimonials

"Ever since taking your training, many doors of opportunity have opened up for me both professionally and personally.  I originally thought I'd just take one 60-hour training through the Motivational Institute of Hypnotherapy, but I soon realized how valuable the training is and have signed up for the whole program. I’ve obtained some incredible tools that have propelled the success of my coaching practice. The Instructors are superb and they have a wide range of expertise. Marla herself is amazing; she is a great teacher and has been a wonderful mentor to me."   ~ C. Crawford (Life Coach)

Letter from the Executive Director

Hi Everyone,

"I come as one, but I stand as 10,000" ~ Maya Angelou

In our current Ericksonian Hypnosis training, we are recognizing the powerful effects of metaphors and how significant they are in our lives, now and even as children.

During turbulent times, personal, national and global, such as the harsh weather experienced by people in the mid-West and East coast, and the government shutdown that has forced federal employees to live without a paycheck in over a month. I’m reminded of the significance of the Butterfly Revolution.

The Butterfly Revolution is a metaphor of giving…Small actions, like the fluttering of a butterfly’s wings, can have far-reaching effects. I believe that by opening our hearts and taking small actions of giving, even just extending a helping hand or a smile, we can each initiate a chain of events that can have a major impact toward making the world a better place.

Kindness creates a ripple in the moment of life.

To Your Success,
Marla Brucker, DCH, R.H.

Open House Social Networking Event

Free Demonstrations, Food, Networking, and Fun!

Wednesday, February 20th from 6:30pm–9:00pm

Topic:

"Juggling Life"

 Presenter: Michael Sather

Juggling is a metaphor for life.  What are you juggling in your life?

Have you ever felt like you were giving maximum effort in your life just to keep "everything in motion"? We’re all trying to look for balance in our lives, but sometimes it feels like a constant "juggling act". Come join us to learn about juggling (in the literal sense) and how this activity can help you gain a perspective and understanding of "the illusion of control". Juggling can be a universal language, active meditation, and an outlet for expressing creativity. Juggling is a key to unlocking the "flow", the mind state of optimal experience. Come join our presenter Michael Sather as he shares the life lessons learned from 25 years of juggling.

This will be a fun-filled evening complete with demonstrations, wine, appetizers, networking, raffle prizes (bring something to raffle), and good company. Learn more about Michael Sather and his work at our website or the official eVite!

We're looking forward to seeing you! Invite friends!
